Eating Plan

Plan to take several weeks to make the transition to wholly or fully raw, following these useful tips:

Begin by monitoring your beverages, drinking only water and fresh fruit juices

 (not canned or packaged which often contain sugar and preservatives).

When shopping for produce, seeds and nuts, make the switch to organic wherever possible to avoid pesticide-contaminated food.


Boost your raw intake by increasing the number of salads in your daily diet.


Clear your kitchen of canned and packaged food as well as meats and cheeses,

not to mention junk food, to avoid temptation.

Do not shy away from snacking, however.

A handful of nuts mid-morning or mid-afternoon with a piece of whole fruit can keep you going between meals.

Spend the first few weeks reading raw food cookbooks to expand your repertoire of uncooked dishes which will eventually take you from steady salads to pastas made of ribboned zucchini in crushed tomato sauce.

Some of the biggest boosters of the diet don’t eat raw 100 percent of the time. Seventy or eighty is acceptable. And if you fall off the bandwagon, forgive yourself and get on with eating raw the next day

Cilantro Pesto

Cilantro Pesto

2 cups fresh cilantro
2/3 cup walnuts
2/3 cup fresh-squeezed lime juice
1/5 tsp Celtic sea salt
1/2 cup spinach (optional)
1 Tbsp garlic
1 Tbsp ginger
2 tsp jalapeño
1/2 cup olive oil.

Combine well in a blender! Makes approximately 4 cups.

"An apple a day will keep the doctor away"- is a well-known phrase. While it will certainly take more than a daily apple to keep you healthy, it is a step in the right direction. Apples are delicious, easy to carry for snacking, low in calories, a natural mouth freshener, and they are still very inexpensive.

The apple is a highly nutritious food. A fresh apple is the idle, healthy snack- juicy and refreshing. It contains minerals and vitamins in abundance. The food value of the apple is mainly constituted by its contents of sugar, which ranges from 10 to 50 per cent.

Of this, fruit sugar constitutes 60 per cent and glucose 25 pet cent and cane sugar only 15 per cent. Raw apples generally contain a small quantity of starch, which gets wholly converted into sugar during the process of ripening.
